After switching from a BlackBerry back to a Nokia phone, I needed a twitter app to meet my insatiable need for connecting to ‘my world’ via twitter.
I used Google to search for a good twitter app for the Nokia E72. I also asked for help via twitter but did not get much help this time round from my tweeps. Several options kept presenting themselves; Gravity seemed to be the best option.
In the interim I used the mobile Twitter website which worked well on the Nokia browser but I could not read tweets offline.
I confess I procrastinated on the decision. I decided to download the Gravity trial version, the file size was 1.69MB, but deleted on the same day it after my phone kept hanging. A month later and desperate for a twitter app on my phone I found a very useful review of Gravity by Nitish Kumar which persuaded me to give Gravity another try.
However since I had already installed a trial version, I could not do this again and had to buy the app for $9.95; interestingly this was quoted in Kenya Shillings equivalent. The registration required that I register my phone by providing my international mobile equipment identity (IMEA) number.
I was very pleased with the fact that I was able to do the entire transaction (review, purchase, download and registration) from the browser of my phone. This was the most convenient access I had to the Internet in the beautiful coastal town of Watamu. (Please note that making credit card transactions via moble phone browser is frowned upon by security experts.)
I am thrilled with Gravity; I like the interface and features! I am connected to my tweeps and can read the tweets when I am offline. I have not explored the options available for connecting to FaceBook, StatusNet, Google Reader and Foursquare accounts! Twitter is all I need for now!
