Kutoka Mbali - Dec 9, 2009

These are the highlights of the news I found online about Kenya mainly through twitter and blogs;
  • Kofi Annan completed a 5 day visit to Kenya with Graca Machel to assess the progress of the Kenya National Dialogue and Reconciliation process. Kofi held a press conference reporting on his visit.
  • Orange (formerly Telkom Kenya) have launched 3G services for their mobile phone unit.
  • Google Zeitgeist 2009 Kenya results show what Kenyans are looking for on the www. Interesting that the comparison chart is on tech trends, hence a comparison on searches for iPhone and Twitter. Check the other countries. News from Wanjiku.
  • Bankelele reports that Zuku, the Wananchi Group broadband and cable TV company, has significantly reduced their prices; by as much as 50%.
  • Migration to digital TV has commenced.
  • Kilemi Mwiria, MP Tigania West and Assistant Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology has a twitter account; @kilemi. He writes great articles. Great to see this!
  • Finally something from the USA, an interactive portfolio of portraits of world leaders at the recent UN General Assembly including our very own Prime Minister Raila Odinga, with commentary by the photographer Platon.
