Good
- Attractive layout on the Bata Kenya website; on the home page focusing attention on the current Bata special offers.
- Fantastic features to search for shoes using logical choices, then filters according to price, shoes size and color.
- Great photographs for all the shoes and other items that Bata is selling.
- Store Locator - you can find all the Bata stores in Kenya using Google Maps.
- Great use of social media, currently 787 fans on FaceBook and Twitter @batakenya 207 followers and following 270. (I am going off on a limb here assuming this is their twitter account and not some cyber squatter.)
- Tons of information on Bata shoes, learnt that Bata use the French shoes sizes, will be pleasing to anyone who shares the Bata by choice slogan.
Bad
- N/FTWR is a very poor choice of a name for a link title on the main navigation bar at the top of the page. My guess was that N/FTWR stands for new foot wear, it actually stands for non-footwear :(
- Whilst it is great that the Bata logo on the top left hand corner serves as the link to the home page. It would be better and safer to have another navigation link clearly marked home or home page.
- A missing image at 'Buy Safari Boots Now' link on the navigation bar at the bottom of the page just above the footer.
Ugly
- The online sales website which uses the X-cart shopping software do not match the look and feel of the rest of the Bata Kenya website. More customization is required.
- Poor choice and location of navigation buttons on the website with the shopping cart https://shop.batakenya.com/xcart/home.php. The home link to return to the main http://www.batakenya.com/ website is on the top right hand corner.
- Poor form on the http://www.batakenya.com/contact-us page. Some html shows. This can be designed better.
I almost always wear Bata shoes; Bata by choice is a slogan that still resonates strongly with me. I am therefore not sure what to make of the Bata Kenya website being developed by Symbio a Czech company.
That said its great to see this good website by Bata and especially see them reaching out to their clients on FaceBook and Twitter.
